A pure cremation is a dignified, respectful cremation conducted by caring professionals you can trust.
We will collect your loved one, from home or a hospital, in one of our private ambulances and bring them into our care. We have our own crematorium set in beautiful, mature grounds, and a highly trained, experienced team who perform the cremation. Your loved one will have their own, solid wood, eco-friendly coffin and a unique ceramic disc which stays with them to guarantee the identity of their ashes.
After the cremation, their ashes are hand delivered in an urn to you anywhere in mainland Britain, personally by us. Or their ashes can be scattered in our attractive Garden of Remembrance if you prefer. There’s no ceremony at the cremation, so you can arrange a more personal remembrance service, whenever and wherever you’d like.

4. We carry out a dignified cremation
We transport your loved one to the crematorium, on a date confirmed with you and carry out the committal. Someone from our team will be with them the whole time.
5. We hand deliver the ashes back to you
The ashes are placed into a biodegradable urn, decorated with a beautiful image. Each one comes with a unique ceramic identity disc. We deliver the ashes to you personally.

Important to know:
If your loved one needs collecting from a home rather than a hospital, there is an additional collection charge of £250.
A pure cremation does not include a ceremony at the crematorium. But, if you’d like to attend the cremation, we can offer a 20-minute farewell with up to 12 attendees and music of your choice. That's £250 at our Charlton Park crematorium, or £700 at a crematorium we partner with.

When will you visit?
Urgent collection (when someone dies at home)
From the moment you call us, we aim to collect within 5 hours, but we’re often much quicker than that. Paperwork is obtained later, ensuring no delays for collection.
Non-urgent collection (when someone dies in hospital)
From the moment you call us, we aim to collect within 10 days. However, this is always dependent on obtaining the necessary paperwork from all parties involved. We will keep you updated on progress every step of the way.
When someone dies in a care home, community hospital or hospice, the collection could be urgent or non-urgent depending on the facilities.

How long does it take to arrange a Pure Cremation funeral?
The initial call with us will take around 20 minutes, a member of our friendly team will take key information from you and complete the application for cremation for you.
The cremation will usually take place 13-16 days from instruction but is reliant on receiving all of the necessary paperwork from all parties. We will keep you updated on the progress every step of the way.
We then aim to hand-return the ashes of your loved one within 14 days of cremation.
How much is a Pure Cremation funeral?
A Pure Cremation includes everything you need for a simple, unattended cremation for £1,395. We won’t try to sell you extra service or upgrades so you don’t have to worry about costs creeping up or having to make decisions.

What happens at an attended cremation?
Our attended option gives the family some quiet time with their loved one at the crematorium. The coffin is placed in the chapel before the family arrives. There is no Funeral Director, no service, and no celebrant present. Some families like to play their favorite music or deliver a brief reading. You are welcome to bring flowers to place on the coffin (up to 12 attendees can be present). This costs between £250 - £700.
What will the ashes be returned in?
Ashes are returned in a specially designed, biodegradable urn wrapped in a beautiful landscape image. This is more sustainable due to being made of renewable raw material, and has a CO2 saving of more than 20%. The urn is included in your price.
How can I be sure the ashes returned will be my loved one's?
Pure Cremation is proud to go above and beyond the strict UK rules for identity checking. Each person we look after is given a unique identification code, which is scanned at each stage of care.
- Each coffin’s identity is checked when it arrives at the crematorium. All data must match the documents submitted to the crematorium before it can be accepted
- This identity is checked again, before the coffin enters the cremation chamber, and a ceramic disc bearing the specific cremation number is placed on the coffin
- The identity is checked and logged again once the remains and the ceramic disc are removed from the cremation chamber
- This identity is logged once more when the remains go through the final step: preparation to return to the family
Pure Cremation is one of the only direct cremation providers in the UK to use this visible proof of identity.
Do you need a death certificate to arrange a funeral?
We do not need a copy of the death certificate, but we will require the death to be registered. Once the registration of death has taken place, the registrar will produce a green certificate. Ask the registrar to send this directly to us at info@purecremation.co.uk. If this is not possible, please send a copy to us yourself, preferably by email. (You will not have a green certificate if the coroner is involved)
