Britain's bestselling funeral plan offers monthly instalments and comes with the Pure Price Promise
Our funeral plan protects you and your family from rising funeral costs. With a plan in place, your wishes are known and, when the time comes, we take care of all the arrangements. Our caring team provide a dignified, respectful cremation at our crematorium set in beautiful grounds.
By contrast, an over 50s plan (known as over 50s life insurance) just pays out a sum of money. Usually the amount is ‘fixed’, which means it doesn’t go up over the years, even though funeral costs rise. That means two things:
Firstly, family still have to make all the funeral arrangements. And second, the amount of money the over 50s plan pays may not be enough to cover the cost, leaving family to fund the shortfall.
But with Pure Cremation, your funeral is guaranteed. What’s more, the Pure Price Promise means everything you need is included and family won’t have to pay a penny.
After the funeral, the ashes are returned in an urn back to family, personally by us. Or if you prefer, your ashes can be carefully scattered in our attractive Garden of Remembrance.
Loved ones can arrange a more personal send-off whenever and wherever they wish, because there’s no ceremony at the crematorium – which also saves you over £2,000 compared to a traditional plan.

Independent sources seem to agree: over 50s life insurance is not a good purchase for most people.
This is what Which? has to say about over 50s plans:
“Most people would be better off not taking out over 50s life insurance.
“It won’t take too long before the amount you will get back is less than you have paid in.”
And this is what Money Saving Expert says:
“Beware over 50s life insurance. There are huge holes and risks in these supposedly 'simple' policies. SunLife is the dominant market leader of these plans, and far from the best – both in cost and in favourable terms.”
Meanwhile, MoneyHelper says:
“They’re not always good value, as you could end up paying in much more than you get out.”
But with a funeral plan, you have the peace of mind of knowing the funeral you’re buying is guaranteed to be provided.

Yes. Rest assured, with Pure Cremation your money is safe, held in an independent trust with strict regulations and safeguards to protect your investment.
What’s more, Pure Cremation Funeral Planning Ltd is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and you also have the peace of mind of FSCS protection.
With our funeral plan, you pay for your funeral in advance, at current prices. You can choose to pay in one single payment or in monthly instalments of up to 5 years for the lowest monthly cost.
Once arranged, you do not need to pay anything else – there are no hidden costs. With other providers, it is worth checking their small print, as they may have additional costs that mean you could pay more than their published prices depending on your circumstances.
With Pure, a plan is than you might think – less than half the average cost of a traditional funeral. Because it’s a direct cremation, there’s no cremation service (unlike you might have to pay with another funeral plan provider), making it simpler for your funeral planning.

Then, if you do take out a plan, carefully read the documentation we will post to you, and file it somewhere safe but easy to find. If you decide to cancel, the details are in that documentation. Then you can rest easy and get back to enjoying life.
Yes – in fact many people take out a plan for their parents or partners. When buying a plan, you will need to say who the plan is for, and it is best to list yourself as the representative for that plan.
Over 50 life insurance, also called over 50 life cover, is a whole-of-life policy that pays a cash lump sum to beneficiaries upon your death. It’s an insurance policy with monthly payments that you may have to pay for the rest of your life. Often, people have to pay in more than they will ever get out. What’s more, over 50s plans can never guarantee to cover the cost of a funeral.
A funeral plan, however, is an agreement with a funeral plan provider to fund and organise funeral expenses according to your wishes. They offer greater control and peace of mind regarding funeral arrangements, ensuring your life is celebrated the way you want.
Many people wonder ‘Maybe I should get a funeral plan from a funeral director near me’. And that’s fine of course – but they are likely to include a funeral service, which limits what your family can do, and adds cost for you. If you take out a plan with us – what’s known as a prepaid funeral plan – we perform the committal and return the ashes, or you can choose to have them scattered in our Garden of Remembrance at our Charlton Park crematorium.
